  1. Get creative with the invitations. Rather than your typical invitation wording,  call the party time the “shift time,” and ask the guests to RSVP to the “Foreman.” Don’t forget to tell the guests that hard hats will be provided, but they should wear construction clothes, because things might get messy!
  2. As the guests arrive, give them the equipment they need, like yellow hard hats, reflective vests, plastic tools, and canvas tool belts, which can inexpensively be found at Home Depot.
  3. For decorations, go with colors like hard hat yellow, traffic cone orange, denim blue, and grass green. Decorate the party space with lots of festive balloons and streamers!
  4. Also decorate with construction warning tape. We offer a fun warning tape that says, “BIRTHDAY ZONE!”
  5. Serve snack foods in the backs of toy trucks and toy dump trucks. Just clean them out and pour the snacks in! You can also use toy shovels as serving spoons.
  6. A fun meal for the kids is to give each one a construction worker brown-bagged lunch. This could include a tasty sandwich, string cheese, a bag of chips, fruit, and a juice box.
  7. For the cake, take a scoop out of a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Put a toy backhoe loader next to the hole in the cake, and make the cake you scooped out look like a pile of dirt.
  8. Go to the BobtheBuilder.com website and print out free coloring pages for the kids to color as they arrive at the party.
  9. Play a remix of Simon Says called “Foreman Says.” Make the cues construction-related. For example, “Foremans says hammer a nail!”
  10. Set up the ultimate construction sandbox zone. Fill a large area with sand and set lots of toy construction vehicles in it. Let the kids free play here!

We hope these ideas inspire and get your Bob the Builder party planning started. Please share your ideas in the comments below!
